About NCCA

National Center for Contemporary Arts is the first and the biggest state institution of the Republic of Belarus that concentrates its activities exclusively on the art of the 20th and 21st centuries. Since its foundation, the National Center has deepened and expanded its activities and achieved a high level of professional and public acknowledgement. Today the National center is an advanced institution that plays an important role in the Republic art space.

National Center works in several directions:

   Exhibition activity on the National and International level;
An innovative educational, interactive, theatrical and other projects;
Cultural representation of the Republic of Belarus at the important international events: the Belarusian pavilion at Expo 2010 – Shanghai, the 54 Venice Biennale (2011), Special project at the 4 Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art (2011), Special project 5 Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art (2013), Days of culture (since 2008, Ukraine, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Russia, Lithuania, etc.), the 56 Venice Biennale (2015);
Public space interaction: the Street Theatre Forum (2014 – 2016), “The Artist and the City” project – the open air exhibition of Belarusian artists reproductions in Yakub Kolas Square in Minsk (2011 – 2016), “Art Islands” project – the open air sculptural installations on the Komsomolsky islands in Minsk;
Representation and preservation collections of Belarusian contemporary art.


Today the National Center for Contemporary Arts has two locations in the center of Belarusian capital. The main building is situated on Nekrasova Street, 3. Apart from that, the National Center has a vast and spacious exhibition hall on Nezavisimosti Avenue, 47.

The Collection

The National Center’s permanent collection reflects the main stages in formation and development of the Belarusian contemporary art of the last decade of 20th century. The majority of exhibits are created by local artists; however, the collection also includes some works by renowned Western masters.
Besides that, the Museum owns a unique collection of works by the famous representatives of Belarusian avant-garde of 1980 – 1990th.

Exhibition Policy

The National Center’s extensive exhibition activity aims at demonstration the artistic process of the 20th and 21st centuries at its maximum span and diversity, including performing arts. During the year people can visit single-artist, group and conceptual exhibitions by well-known masters as well as by young artists, festivals and big-scale image projects in two buildings of the National Center. 

The National Center for Contemporary Arts events include practical activities in creative workshops, lectures on contemporary art, studies of the new technologies in visual arts and issues of modern culture. Apart from that, the National Center launched a special education and discussion program – the “BLOWUP” project. There is also a special program for children.
